Sony Ericsson announced a handful of handsets today with the 8 megapixel Sony Ericsson C905 leading the pack. The Wii-like gaming centric F305 follows along with three other lower midrange/low-discontinue handsets - the S302, the K330 and the J132.
Sony Ericsson C905
We already posted information about the upcoming Sony Ericsson C905 last week. Equipped with an 8 megapixel camera, it will surely be Sony Ericsson's flagship Cyber-shot handset. Face detection, both a xenon flash and a photo flash, as well as geotagging complete the capturing camera feature set.

Besides that the Sony Ericsson C905 (previously codenamed Shiho) also comes with a built-in accelerometer for classy screen auto rotation, TV-out port (Sony Ericsson TV-Out Cable ITC-60 is srecent separately), and, wait for it… Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) support. Yes, that's wireless networking on a regular feature phone (non-smartphone). A 2.4-inch QVideo Graphics Array (VGA) TFT display with scratch-resistant mineral glass cover will serve you as a viewfinder.

The Sony Ericsson C905 measures 104 x 49 x 19.5mm, which makes it rather thick as you would notice on the photos. Weighing at 136g, it also offers quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity as well as UMTS and HSDPA support. Stereo Bluetooth (that's A2DP for the nerd group), Universal Serial Bus (USB) and Frequency Modulation (FM) radio with RDS are also on board.
The Sony Ericsson C905 will be available in Copper Gold, Ice Silver & Night Black in early Q4 2008 with a bundled 2 Giga Bytes (GB) Memory Stick Micro M2. Currently there's no pricing information. The Sony Ericsson TV-Out Cable ITC-60 will be available in Q4 2008.
Sony Ericsson F305
We already informed you of the upcoming Sony Ericsson F305 and Sony Ericsson S302. Both are lower midrange handset but the first one has some fascinating gaming features to offer to the mass market.
Armed with a built-in accelerometer, the Sony Ericsson F305 offers unprecedented gaming capabilities in this price segment. It's natural that it's not armed with any other high-discontinue features in an obvious attempt to haged the price down.
The Sony Ericsson F305 has a 2-inch TFT display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and a 2 megapixel capturing camera (no auto focus). A QVideo Graphics Array (VGA) display would have been much appreciated, but then again remember - keeping the price down requires sacrifices. Beside that the F305 also sports stereo loud speakers, stereo Bluetooth (that's A2DP for the nerd group) and quite simply… stereo Frequency Modulation (FM) radio.
The highlight of the F305 is the accelerometer-enabled portable gaming. There are three games pre-installed on the device (Bowling, Bass fishing and Jockey) and they all employ its built-in sensor. Additional motion games developed by Gameloft are available for download at PlayNow. If you feel like playing some bowling for example you can do that by simply swinging the handset as if you are to throw a bowling ball (just hrecent tight there!). Some of the games can be played in multiplayer mode via Bluetooth. There are also some special gaming keys that you'll notice above the display. The F305 D-pad now looks more of a… console D-pad.
The quad-band GSM/EDGE-enabled Sony Ericsson F305 can be additionally pimped up with Style-Up covers (two of them come in the retail box). The F305 offers up to 8 hours of continuous gameplay however it will also be able to benefit from a recent accessory called Sony Ericsson Power Pack CPP-100. Srecent separately, it attaches to your keyring and when you need it, you simply plug it into the phone to receive some extra power juice.
The Sony Ericsson F305 will be available in Polar White and Mystic Black from Q3 2008. Pricing is yet unknown. The Sony Ericsson Power Pack CPP-100 will be available from Q4 2008.
Sony Ericsson S302
The Sony Ericsson S302 is the next device that leaked several days ago. It comes under the Snapshot series, which pretty much says it all. The S302 is armed with quad-band GSM/EDGE support, a 2 megapixel capturing camera without auto focus and 2-inch TFT display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. A Frequency Modulation (FM) radio, M2 card slot, stereo Bluetooth (that's A2DP for the nerd group) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) port are also on board.
The Sony Ericsson S302 will start shipping in early Q4 2008.
Sony Ericsson K330
And finally, Sony Ericsson announced a couple of low-discontinue devices, which are obviously set to compete with the successful Nokia models in this segment. Much like Nokia handsets, they would offer dust-resistant keypads and Light Emitting Diode (LED) flashlights (or torches as Sony Ericsson call them).
First off is the Sony Ericsson K330, which flaunts a Video Graphics Array (VGA) capturing camera (with video recording) and a 1.7-inch TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. It also has 10Mega Bytes (MB) of internal memory, MP3 ringtones support, Bluetooth, Frequency Modulation (FM) radio and a Light Emitting Diode (LED) flashlight.
The dual-band Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) enabled Sony Ericsson K330 will be available in Grecent on Black and Green on Black color combos in Q3 2008.
Sony Ericsson J132
The Sony Ericsson J132 doesn't have a capturing camera on-board but offers a dust-resistant keypad and a Light Emitting Diode (LED) flashlight along with a built-in Frequency Modulation (FM) radio. The J132 will have a 1.5-inch display with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels.
The Sony Ericsson J132 has 4Mega Bytes (MB) of internal memory and has dual-band Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) support and some nice battery times. It will be available in Night Black and Heaven Blue in Q3 2008.
