Today Nokia released a recent entry-level series of phones. The Nokia 1112, Nokia 2310 and Nokia 2610 models are aimed at the low-discontinue market share.

The Nokia 1112 is successor of the 1110 model. It is still a dual-band device with the same measures and weight. The display stays the same, a 96 x 68 pixels resolution monochrome one. Nokia 2310 takes the place of the 2300 model. The recent dual-band model is slightly smaller and weighs less. The phone has a 65K colors display with 96 x 68 pixels resolution. It still has the built-in Frequency Modulation (FM) radio and the only messaging feature is SMS and picture messaging. Basic features like alarm clock are supported as well. The estimated price of Nokia 2310 will be around 65 euro.

Nokia 2610 succeeds the 2600 model. The recent model is also slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. The dual-band phone is supplied with a 65K colors display. The 2610 phone supports the Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging feature and has a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) browser and email support. It also has SMS/MMS/IM messaging features and has a voice recorder. There is no official release date set for this model, but the estimated price of Nokia 2610 will be around 75 euro.

During the event, Nokia introduced three recent mobile phones targeted at first time users in these markets. The Nokia 1112, Nokia 2310 and Nokia 2610 expand Nokia's portfolio of easy-to-use, reliable and affordable mobile phones. All three models are expected to start shipping during the second quarter of 2006.

Another vital contributor to Nokia's success in recent growth markets has been the company's close work with operators and regulators to lower the total cost of mobile phone ownership for consumers.

The Nokia 2610

A flagship addition to Nokia's entry portfolio, the Nokia 2610 phone offers an iconic design and a strong range of features for business-minded consumers. A first for entry phones, the Nokia 2610 includes e-mail support as well as mobile Internet access via a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) browser. Additionally, the Nokia 2610 supports MMS and Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, for recording and editing messages on the go. Designed specifically for consumers in recent growth markets, the Nokia 2610 even offers a unique rubberized finish which serves to combat dust and improve grip.

The Nokia 2310

For those with a mind for fashion and music, the Nokia 2310 phone offers a compact design matched with an equally outstanding array of colour covers. A dedicated short-slit key activates the built-in Frequency Modulation (FM) radio which features "sound visualization" -graphics that go in sync with the music. Keeping in tune with consumer desires, the Nokia 2310 offers polyphonic and MP3-grade ring tones.

For text-intensive consumers, the Nokia 2310 offers a host of messaging options, including an SMS editor to avoid accidental deletions of messages, speed dial for SMS sending and a distribution list for creating and managing personal contact lists. The Nokia 2310 also features the Nokia Prepaid Tracker, a network supported application which automatically updates users of their prepaid account balance after each call or message.

The Nokia 1112
